Hello! My name is Michael Sanchez. I am a husband, father, and a fifth grade teacher. I started my teaching career in Denver, Colorado in an organization called,
City Year. During this time, I met my wife Lisa. She has inspired me to follow my dreams and still be my true self. After City Year, I decided to continue in the education field and worked for
Denver Math Fellows. Two years of working in an urban district in one of my favorite cities assured me that this was the right path. After this experience, I moved to Wisconsin and during my first two years as a classroom teacher in an urban charter school, I earned my teaching license and Masters in Education. By the end of my Master's program, I married my wife, moved to another city in Wisconsin, switched schools (still fifth grade!) and bought a house!
Now I'm in my fourth year as a fifth grade teacher (6th year in the field) and after years of reading teacher blogs, websites, searching resources and strategies, I feel obligated to not only return the favor but help those who are just starting. I will share and reflect on my experiences. I will post resources I have created and/or used. Lastly, this website is for anyone who feels they need help!
